Connect America
Begun in 1996, Connect America is a national partnership of diverse nonprofit organizations, businesses, civic associations, fraternal organizations, communities of faith, government and news media working in collaboration to leverage knowledge, resources and volunteers to address social and community problems Connect America Partners are united to fight social disconnection, bridge differences, and create synergy around social issues nationally and locally through volunteering and community service. Though technology has diminished the significance of our nation's physical barriers, individuals have become more isolated and oblivious to the social problems surrounding them. By offering individuals and organizations positive opportunities to work together in partnership towards a common goal, Connect America stimulates innovative community initiatives that bring Americans together. With varied missions and focus, all Partners come together under the Connect America banner for the greater good that can be accomplished collectively. Each Connect America partner seeks to alleviate social disconnection by providing volunteer opportunities that also further its own mission. How to Get Connected
Connections can result in new and mutually beneficial partnerships, access to new resources within the community, new services to the community at large, and wider community participation. Here are some ideas on how to get connected in your community:

- Connect with affiliates of Connect America Partner organizations in your community.
- Adopt Seasons of Service Days and observe these special days of service with collaborative projects.
- Call 1-800-VOLUNTEER or visit www.volunteerconnections.org to locate a Volunteer Center near you and find opportunities to get involved in your community through volunteer service and local partnerships.
- Commit to long term, lasting "connections" – they take time to develop.
- Start a "Local Connect" in your area.
